Cruise Parking at Other US Homeports
Gulf Coast and West Coast ports, and a checklist for everywhere else.
Get a Free Cruise QuoteOutside Florida, cruise parking ranges from garages built right on top of a terminal to lots linked by shuttles across a working harbor. Here is what the official port sites say for four busy homeports on the Gulf and the West Coast, and how to plan for the rest.
Galveston, Texas
The Port of Galveston’s parking department says it manages 13 surface lots, an indoor parking facility and a multi-level garage — about 5,500 spaces, mostly for cruise guests — and it encourages online reservations. Many cruisers drive in from Houston and beyond, so a reservation and an early start are worth having on peak weekends. Official source: Port of Galveston parking.
New Orleans, Louisiana
Port NOLA has two cruise terminals with very different set-ups. At the Erato Street terminal, the parking garage is entered on top of the terminal via a ramp. Guests sailing from the Julia Street terminal are directed to a downtown garage on Poydras Street with a shuttle to the terminal. The port lists height limits for each garage and warns that prepaid parking is not refunded. Official source: Port NOLA parking and directions.
Seattle, Washington
Seattle’s two cruise terminals, Bell Street (Pier 66) downtown and Smith Cove (Pier 91), have separate parking operators, so confirm which pier your ship uses before you book a space. The Port of Seattle notes that the trip from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport to hotels and the terminals is about 35 minutes, which is why many Alaska cruisers fly in, stay downtown and never park at all. Los Angeles (San Pedro), California
The Port of Los Angeles lists about 2,560 spaces of secured overnight parking at the World Cruise Center, operated by a parking contractor, with the first hour free and an hourly charge up to a daily cap. It also lists courtesy shuttles between the terminal and the parking lot. Official source: Port of Los Angeles cruise terminal.
Any Other US Homeport: Your Checklist
- Search for the port authority’s own parking page (not a parking broker) and bookmark it.
- Confirm your terminal or pier name from your cruise documents.
- Note reservation rules, accepted payment, vehicle height limits and shuttle times.
- Price a hotel night near the port and a rideshare as alternatives.
- Screenshot the parking page and your confirmation in case you lose signal at the terminal.
